CSA Box Program

“CSA” stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and is like a vegetable membership subscription to the farm season. When you sign up for a CSA share, you will be asked to pay up front for the remainder of the CSA season, and in exchange receive a box of veggies each week, grown on our farm and picked just for you. By paying in advance, you are helping to reduce the burden of up front costs faced by your farmers. By joining a membership program like this, you will be making a commitment to purchase produce for the entire CSA season, and in return will be given 25% more value, compared to retail prices you would pay at the Farmers Market.

We value your commitment to Milky Way Farm, and would like to offer you the choice over what goes into your shares each week. As opposed to a pre-assembled box, our CSA display will be set up market style , and offer you full choice over what veggies you would like to include in your share. This way you will never be stuck with something you do not like, and should help to reduce food waste. Although we would love to encourage you to try new things!

We offer two sizes of shares to choose from: our FULL SHARE is designed to feed a family of four, or two veggie lovers, and contains 15 items/week, and our SMALL SHARE is designed to feed one-two people, and contains 8 items per week.

For 2020, we are pleased to offer two main CSA seasons: SUMMER (18 weeks, pick-ups Tuesdays 4-8pm, June 9th-October 6th), and FALL (10 weeks, pick-ups Thursdays 4-8pm, October 15th-December 17th), as well as 5 monthly veggie “drop-in” days during the off-season from January until May.

Here is an example of a typical SUMMER CSA pick-up day. Members get to choose what they take home each week.
Here is an example of one of our FALL CSA pick-up table displays. Members get free choice over the items they receive each week.

We grow a mixture of heirloom and hybrid varieties, striving for the best in flavour of: arugula, basil, beans, beet, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, cilantro, collards, corn, cucumber, dill, eggplant, fennel, garlic, green onion, ground cherry, kale, kohlrabi, leek, lettuce, melon, onion, parsley, parsnip, peas, pepper, potatoes, radish, rutabaga, salad greens, spinach, squash, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, tomatillo, tomato, turnip, watermelon, zucchini.

Each week, we will harvest every veggie item that we have available in season, to allow you as much variety to choose from as we are able to produce.
