This is the last week to order before we shut down for a 2-week break to enjoy the holidays with friends and family. We still have a great supply of fresh local greens, herbs, roots, and storage crops available to help add some nutrition to your holiday feasting season, so stock up and make sure you can end the year on a tasty note. We also have some hoodies, hats and preserves available for last minute gifting, as well as gift cards that can be used to set-up a recipient with store credit to use in our online store. And don't forget the sweet winter carrots to leave out for the reindeer!

This week in the online store we have loads of salad mix available now coming from our minimally heated greenhouse. We have now entered frozen and snowy season at the farm, and things outside are well frozen under a layer of snow and ice, but the greenhouse is an oasis of life filled with lots of freshness to keep your bellies happy. We have new pac choi bunches available, and more green onions, arugula, spicy mix, celery, cilantro, dill and Swiss chard also coming from the greenhouse this week. This will be the last week for Romanesco, Brussels sprouts and mini red romaine lettuce.

New this week in the store we have our first planting of greenhouse arugula ready, as well as some mustards that go into our "spicy mix". We also have some greenhouse grown red radish bunches and green onions back again for the fall/winter season. From the field we have some wee baby pack choi in bunches of 5 or 6 which have now been frost sweetened and are very sweet and flavourful. They do have a bit of "bullet hole" damage on the leaves characteristic of the tiny flea beetle, but are super tasty nonetheless. We will be harvesting these in full early this week, along with some more Romanesco, and mini red romaine ahead of a deep freeze headed our way at the end of the week.

This week in the store we are debuting our line of 2025 preserves made with care from farm grown veggies. We have our usual passata, heritage tomato soup, tomato salsa, tomatillo salsa, pickled jalapeno, pickled beans, and some new items including a sweet pickle medley, sweet pepper relish and pickled sweet peppers. Please return any clean jars to us to help keep canning costs down.

Hey Sweaburg, and surrounding community, we want your leaves!!🍂🍁🍃Please drop off your clean leaves (no other garden debris or large sticks please) to our farm so we can use them to build soil fertility! Drop them off loose or leave them in the yard waste bags.

This week in the store we have the last of our sweet and hot peppers for the year. Lots of green long peppers and a few remaining pints of coloured peppers. We have more Brussels sprouts again, and some more beautiful cauliflower available, with another succession coming along next week (fingers crossed). The cooler weather has continued to sweeten up our root crops, and the storage carrots this year look absolutely beautiful!

This week in the store we still have many types of tomatoes available, but our quantities will decrease in coming weeks. A few sweet peppers remain in the hoophouse, and we again have an abundance of large cauliflower, and a some broccoli available. We have some Brussels sprouts ready, as well as some larger red fall cabbage, and all of our usual fall roots, greens, squash and herbs available. The field celery has rebounded a bit and is available again, and this week the fennel is beautiful and full and ready to add some variety to your fall salads.

This is the final week of our Summer Farm Share Program and we want to thank all of our members for joining in this season and making this year a success. It was a long, hot and dry summer on the farm and we really appreciate all of you placing your trust in us to feed to you and your families throughout the season. It means so much to us to be able to be your farmers year after year, and we want to know you are at the core of our little farm's success, so thank you. As always, any unused credits do not expire and can be used towards future orders anytime.
